RiDisc 16x RITEKF1 Silver & White Printable DVD-R

RiDisc

RiDisc
Overview
This pair of discs are the printable versions of the popular RiDisc 16x speed DVD-R. The silver faced pintables and the white faced pintables. They both have the same MID code RITEKF1 and their performance as DVD media is similar, the difference being in the actual top printable surface. The silver finish is a dull metallic grey and when printed upon gives a 3D effect to the print as if it has been engraved. The white topped discs have a mat white surface which is ideal for printing in high contrast colours producing excellent results. Personally I prefer the silver pintables for their subtle finish. As these discs are the same MID and come from the same source I am just producing the one set of tests to cover both types

Under The Microscope
The drives we are using for these tests are the most common ones generally in use
If you are not sure about your drive try and buy a sample disc pack from one of the online retailers or ask your local shop if they will sell individual samples just to be sure. All the test results in this review are entered into my newly developed Media Quality Spreadsheet with the totals analysed together with the current market price of the media and the value for money is calculated.
My algorithms are incorporated into the testing software I use DVDInfoPro which is now integrated with LightningUK's Imgburn burning data to produce the newly developed burn speed graph of DVDInfoPro.
A recording has been made on each of the drives with Imgburn ISO burn mode and then tested with DVDInfoPro testing software.
Thee new features have been incorporated in the latest releases of the software which can be downloaded from this site HERE

If you click on the image of the relevant drive below the graphs will come up in a popup window.

Conclusion
Here again we are seeing varied results from very good to very bad which is typical of the current 16x speed media.
After 12 months of production it still seems that the drive manufacturers have not quite got it together when it comes to burning at the high speed, and this media is not an exception with most of the drives recognising it as 16x speed media but only burning at 12x or less. Burning at a lower speed than the maximum rated speed will generally produce a better quality burn, but for my tests I have attempted to burn the discs at the maximum available speed.
The results on my spreadsheet are varied producing an overall rating of 79% with a value for money of 85% at £26 per 100
